About Us

Our History

The National body was established in 1956 with its major concern: The prevention, treatment and aftercare of alcoholism and drug dependence. Today there are 32 SANCA Societies in most of the larger centers around the country – at least one in all 9 provinces. Each Society is self-governing although it is affiliated to the National Council which is based in Johannesburg.

OUR MISSION & VALUES

We’re dedicated to preventing and treating substance misuse, because we know how much it can impact people’s lives.

At Castle Carey Clinic, we believe that everyone deserves a chance at a healthy and fulfilling life, free from the chains of addiction. That’s why our team of compassionate professionals works tirelessly to provide comprehensive and effective treatment programs that address the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of substance abuse. We firmly believe that prevention is key, and through our education and outreach initiatives, we strive to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed decisions and avoid falling into the trap of addiction.

Castle Carey Clinic in a peaceful Pretoria suburb welcomes patients’ loved ones as part of the recovery process.

SANCA Pretoria / Soshanguve / Hammanskraal is the SANCA Society that operates in Pretoria, Soshanguve, Hammanskraal and surrounding areas and consists of three clinics: Castle Carey Clinic, Lapalamé Youth Drug Unit, Soshanguve & Hammanskraal Outpatient Clinics:

Castle Carey Clinic can accommodate up to 52 patients, offering admissions at specific times throughout the day, seven days a week. Alcohol admissions are available from 6:00 to 16:00 and again from 19:00 to 22:00 every day of the week.

Each patient undergoes an assessment to determine the best course of action, ensuring that all individuals are treated with personalized care tailored to their unique needs. Working closely with an assigned therapist, patients will create an Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) to guide their journey towards recovery. This plan will be closely managed by the therapist and a dedicated multi-professional team, monitoring progress every step of the way.

Lapalamé youth drug unit caters to 8 adolescent males aged 13-18, with tailored rehabilitation programs, parental involvement, and after-care support.

Located in Soshanguve & Hammanskraal, our sub-clinics offers outpatient programs specifically designed for individuals struggling with alcohol and drug dependency. This program aims to help those who have become reliant on chemical substances and are experiencing negative impacts on their work, family, and social life, providing the necessary support for them to break free from this harmful cycle.

By offering outpatient treatment, individuals can still maintain their daily routines within the community while actively addressing their substance abuse issues. Services include personalized support for those with dependency problems who are unable to stay overnight at our inpatient clinic. Our dedicated social workers conduct sessions to assist individuals and address community inquiries effectively.
